German Data Protection Law
Data privacy takes on a particular significance in the area of online marketing and online sales. There is a high degree of legal regulation. Regulations relevant to data privacy law are found outside of general privacy and information laws and in, among others, competition law and copyright law. Even the smallest of oversights can lead to claims for information, claims for cease and desist or claims for damages.
Our particular areas of expertise:
- Development and checking of general data protection provisions for online services
- Admissibility of the collection and processing of data
- Online advertising, email marketing, social media
- Data privacy in firms and at the workplace
- Liability issues
- Security requirements in cross-border data traffic
Employee Data Protection
Data protection is an often neglected aspect of employer-employee relationships. The German legislation in its current state is fragmentary. Although general provisions from German Data Protection Act (BDSG) and a number of other statutes apply, many questions related to the particular circumstances in employment relationships are subject of an often contentious jurisdiction.
Consumer Data Protection
We support private and public organizations to comply with the legal requirements of German and European data protection regulations regarding the acquisition and use of data belonging to customers. We audit existing data protection concepts and provide advice on legally compliant set-ups for acquiring, using and evaluating data.
